“Returned with Their King in Peace to Their Own Land”

W. Cleon Skousen

The king of the Lamanites knew of the hostile feelings of his people both for the kidnaping of the girls and the number of Lamanites who had been slain by the Nephites. It was therefore he who had suggested that king Limhi and the Nephite officers go unarmed to negotiate with the Lamanites and convince them that none of them had kidnaped the daughters of the Lamanites. The Lamanite king said that if they would do this he would take an oath that none of them would be hurt.
