“Gideon Spares the Life of King Noah”

Monte S. Nyman

The Nephite people were becoming discontented with their self-serving king. The departure of Alma and his people had probably encouraged others to resist. Although it was the lesser part (vv. 2–3), a new leader named Gideon emerges among them. We will hear more of him later. The character of Noah is further exposed. His concern for his own life is natural, but the plot thickens.
