“They Should Preach Nothing Save It Were Repentance and Faith on the Lord”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

The responsibility of a teacher in the kingdom of God is to teach faith and repentance.

Alma organizes the Church in smaller units of fifty, each with its own priest. Only the fundamentals of the gospel as spoken by the prophets of God are to be taught (compare Alma 37:33). Their hearts were to be “knit together in unity and love.” The question of conscience that applies to our time would be this: Do we focus our teaching at home and at Church on the fundamentals of the gospel and avoid getting into themes and topics of a marginal and speculative nature?
