“O Lord, Pour out Thy Spirit Upon Thy Servant”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
The servants of the Lord, the legal administrators of the true Church, seek diligently to be worthy to perform the ordinances of salvation “with holiness of heart.” That is, being authorized to act in the name of God (having the requisite priesthood), they seek also to attune themselves with the Infinite so that the Holy Spirit may attest to the truthfulness and verity of the performance. Every gospel ordinance is to be performed “by the power of the Holy Ghost” in those called and authorized to perform the ordinance (see Moroni 3:4; D&C 18:32; D&C 20:60).
