“The Grave Has No Victory Death Has No Sting”

Monte S. Nyman

The Resurrection was also assured: “As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive” (1 Corinthians 15:22). What Abinadi prophesied (Mosiah 16:8–9) was verified by the Savior in his ministry. At the Feast of the Tabernacles, also called the Feast of Lights, he testified: “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12). He later testified to Thomas, one of the Twelve: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).

To the Nephites, after his Resurrection, he testified: “I am the light and the life of the world. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end” (3 Nephi 9:18). Paul proclaimed the same concept of immortality as did Abinadi (Mosiah 16:10): “It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power” (1 Corinthians 15:43). Christ and Paul testified of the judgment bar:

27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. [John 5:27–29; see also D&C 76:15–17]
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. [2 Corinthians 5:10]
