“Fallen State”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

Here, in a single sentence, Abinadi capsulizes the doctrine of salvation by grace. Adam fell, and thus all of his posterity are subject to the effects of his fall-all inherit his fallen nature. None can deliver themselves from their fallen state. Their redemption requires the redeeming grace of an infinite Being. Only a God could accomplish such a labor, and thus none can be saved except it be through the redeeming grace of Jesus Christ.
