“The Devil Has Power over Them”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
The devil has power over the flesh. Through the Fall, Adam-and for that matter all of his posterity-“became subject to the will of the devil” (D&C 29:40), for Satan is the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4). Thereafter they were left to choose-to either submit to the god of a fallen world or to rebel against Lucifer and serve instead the Father of their spirits. To love Satan more than God, earth more than heaven, the temporal more than the eternal, the flesh more than the spirit-this is to be seduced by and become acclimated to a world where darkness reigns.
