“Did Not Moses Prophesy Unto Them Concerning the Coming of the Messiah”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

“All the prophets who have prophesied ever since the world began” have foretold the ministry and atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ, for as John wrote, “the spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus” (Revelation 19:10); that is, testifying of Jesus is what prophesying is all about. Adam, Enoch, Noah, Melchizedek, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Isaiah, Lehi, Nephi, and all other true prophets bore record of their Redeemer. Even the Jewish rabbis recognized the importance of that special witness. The Talmud declares, “All the prophets prophesied only of the days of the Messiah.” 23
