“Have They Not Said Also That He Should Bring to Pass the Resurrection of the Dead”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

Abinadi said that Moses did prophesy not only of the coming of the Messiah but also that he would “redeem his people,” Though the law of Moses centers in a redeeming sacrifice to be made by the Messiah, we have no Old Testament text in which Moses plainly states that the Messiah will come in a redemptive role. We are not, however, without perfect confidence that Moses understood and taught the redemptive role of Christ. Indeed, it was to Moses that the Lord said: “This is my work and my glory-to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man” (Moses 1:39; see also Moses 5:8-9; Moses 6:51-62; Moses 7:39, 45, 55).
