“Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

Neighbor is any other human being, whether he is an enemy or friend. This commandment prohibits not only false oaths and wrongful testimony being uttered, but it enjoins that truth and veracity be spoken at all times. Slander, tale-bearing, and evil speaking of anybody come under the infringement of this law. Suppressing of a truth when it is known, or deposing as true, a falsehood that may injure the person or property of another, is also a violation of the Ninth Commandment.
