While general destruction is a typical prophecy of doom, this particular prophecy includes the unusual idea that a record will be made of their annihilation. In other words, Abinadi warns the people that they are not only are headed for destruction but will be used as an object lesson for future peoples. No wonder they were outraged (v. 9).
