Concluding Thoughts

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

Under a covenant banner of truth, Zeniff, as king of the Nephite colony, is able to lead the people to victory over the Lamanites and preserve at least a semblance of stability and peace for a period of time. This delicate balance between Nephite and Lamanite interests ends to the disadvantage of the colonists soon after Zeniff confers the kingdom upon his son Noah, who becomes a wicked ruler. Nevertheless, during his days of service, Zeniff remembers the Lord and attempts to guide his people in righteous paths. That his prayer is answered is later confirmed by King Mosiah in Zarahemla, who rejoices in the deliverance of the Zeniff/Limhi colony from bondage (Mosiah 25:5–8). And Zeniff’s prayer continues to be answered on behalf of all sincere readers of the Book of Mormon who acquire through their study the yearning to return once again to their homelands—even the home of Deity in the celestial realm.
