The success of the Nephites in defending against the Lamanites is briefly told, as the reign of Zeniff for about thirty-five years comes to an end. Although the record of his people continues, Mormon apparently copied his account verbatim (chapters 9 and 10), since it is written in the first person. The rest of the record of Zeniff was abridged.
