“The Lamanites Knew Nothing Concerning the Lord”

Brant Gardner

Literature: This verse serves as a transition from describing the Zeniffites’ preparation to Zeniff’s analysis of the Lamanites, particularly focusing on the concept of relying upon Yahweh’s strength. He has already established that his people went to battle in Yahweh’s strength. Now he describes the Lamanites as lacking such knowledge of Yahweh’s power. From that point, he describes them as military opponents (strong), but concentrates on their hatred of the Zeniffites/Nephites, a second motivation that he gives for their attack upon the Zeniffites.
