Limhi’s curiosity about the record is quite understandable. It could have been only the dynastic record of an unrelated Mesoamerican people. Instead, they were what we know as the book of Ether, a history that fit into the sacred records that the Nephite already had. Possibly, since the prophet Ether witnesses, but was not involved in, the final battles, he may have brought his record to the building where he knew it would be found, a location directed by the Spirit so that Limhi’s explorers could find it.
