King Limhi proceeded to question Ammon further concerning the translation of the plates that had fallen into his hands. He made no mention of their probable worth, they being made of gold, but talked to Ammon only of the great store of knowledge and understanding which he felt was hidden behind the faces of numberless, and to him, incomprehensible glyphs. Ammon listened to Limhi's words as the king intently explained to him the reasons why he desired that they be translated "into our language." Perhaps, he ventured, they may tell us of those people who were destroyed, and the causes therefore. Now I ask you again, "Knowest thou of any one that can translate?"
