“King Mosiah Did Walk in the Ways of the Lord”

Brant Gardner

Redaction: It seems likely that this verse is not only Mormon’s synopsis of Mosiah’s reign but also his evaluation of him. Mormon uses history to highlight the spiritual. I hypothesize that Mormon’s source would not have contained such a simple summary. Although declarations of kingly piety are well known, they usually come in the context of actions. In this verse, then, we see Mormon as editor, extracting from his source the essential information he wants to communicate.
