“We Are Willing to Enter into a Covenant”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
It would appear that King Benjamin’s mighty sermon was the forum for a large covenant-renewal ceremony. That is to say, the people of King Benjamin were already members of the Church; they had been baptized at the time of their initial conversion or as they arrived at the years of accountability; they had previously taken upon themselves the name of Christ; and they now renewed those commitments to keep the commandments of God the remainder of their days.
