Joseph Smith said:
“Faith comes by hearing the word of God, through the testimony of the servants of God; that testimony is always attended by the Spirit of prophecy and revelation”
(Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 148).
This was the pattern followed in the conversion of King Benjamin’s people (see Mosiah 5:4). Following this conversion, the people said they were willing to enter into a covenant relationship with the Lord to do his will (see v. 5).
