“That Ye May Walk Guiltless Before God”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

Benjamin explored in more detail how we can share what we have with others: feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick and administer to their relief—in spiritual as well as temporal ways. We do all that first with our own families, then with our neighbors, ward members, nonmembers, and other needy persons throughout our community, our nation, and the world. Giving to the needy is best done in the Lord’s way (D&C 104:15–17), not by merely giving handouts but by preserving human dignity with opportunities to earn their own way. Those who are truly incapacitated, temporally or spiritually, of course have needs that we can help meet without any demands on them.
