Benjamin reinforces the status of the wealthy as beggars by reminding them of an example that is not even a day old. They have literally begged Yahweh for mercy, a petition he immediately and bountifully filled in such a great measure that “your mouths should be stopped that ye could not find utterance, so exceedingly great was your joy.”
