“Neither Will Ye Suffer That They Transgress the Laws of God”

The constant necessity of parents to provide for the temporal needs of their children (see 1 Timothy 5:8; D&C 75:28) ought be a reminder of the greater responsibility to provide for their spiritual needs (see D&C 68:25-28). We have no more right to neglect the spiritual welfare of our families than to refuse them food and clothing. “I have commanded you,” the Savior said to those of our dispensation, “to bring up your children in light and truth” (D&C 93:40).
