“Remember and Always Retain in Remembrance”

Jana Reiss

Note the use of “remember” and “retain,” words that are picked up again in Mosiah 5:12

Benjamin wants his listeners to always remember their own humble state compared to God’s greatness. In the next verse, he ties this remembrance to the remission of sins, which is a startling connection. In other words, unless people remember their “own nothingness,” they risk losing their connection with God and possibly also the forgiveness (remission) they once obtained through genuine repentance.
