“The Atoning Blood of Christ”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

King Benjamin, like all the prophets before him, prophesies and preaches concerning the coming of the Savior and His Atonement. The crowning testimony of King Benjamin’s final discourse to his people is a report given him by an angel of God about the mission of the Redeemer. King Benjamin conveys to his listeners (and by extension to his modern-day readers) a compelling witness of what the angel has instructed him to say about the need to repent, overcome the natural man, and become as a saint through the Atonement of Christ. There is no other name given for salvation other than the name of Jesus Christ—no philosophy of man, no scientific process, no sectarian creed, no political platform—just the name of Jesus Christ. We are to become like little children and come unto the Lord, the only source of salvation.
