“Be Filled with Joy”

Brant Gardner

Benjamin continues in his service to his people. Not only has he labored physically, but he has also labored spiritually, and this communication has come in response to his prayers.

Literature: The angel announces tidings of great joy; Benjamin may rejoice and may also declare this message to his people so that can rejoice. “Joy” or a form of it appears three times in two verses, expanding the meaning of the word. In the first declaration, the message itself is “tidings of great joy.” The message’s contents contain “joy.” Next, the joy is transferred and focused to Benjamin, and third, to his people. (See commentary accompanying 2 Nephi 2:25 for an analysis of “joy.”)
