“I Might Declare Unto You That I Can No Longer Be Your Teacher”

Brant Gardner

Benjamin declares two reasons for the assembly. First, he must discharge his duty to Yahweh, and second, he will abdicate both his throne and his position as “teacher.” The abdication of the throne is an important event in this discourse but Benjamin devotes much less time and effort to it than to his spiritual goal of discharging his responsibilities before Yahweh. Before Benjamin can relinquish his title of “teacher,” he has one final great lesson to communicate in this sermon.
