“Then Ought Not Ye to Labor to Serve One Another?”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

Here, King Benjamin draws an astute comparison between his life of helpful devotion to his people, and the obligation they have to aid one another. He said, in effect, "I, whom ye call your king, have spent all my days ministering to your wants, in bringing you" succor, according to the hour and the power of your needs, and, for it, "I ask of you nothing, no recompense save that you serve God," "then ought not ye to labor to serve one another?"
