“Mind and Strength Which the Lord Hath Granted Unto Me”

W. Cleon Skousen

Notice that the first mystery King Benjamin wished to deal with was the frenzied hero worship that the people tend to bestow upon their leaders. Love and support of a leader is appreciated, but hero worship is a sin. There was nothing supernatural about this king. He was a frail and ordinary human being like themselves who had just tried to serve the people to the best of his ability. Then he began to itemize the specific things he had tried to accomplish with his people. Modern politicians might carefully note what he said.
