The crowd spilled out beyond the walls of their temple square and so King Benjamin had a high tower built in hopes the people could hear him better. But that was impossible, so he had his words written down and distributed among the people where the parents of each family could read them aloud. Mormon wisely included a copy of the speech in his history so we can read it as well.
