“To Hear the Words Which King Benjamin”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

The manner in which the people of King Benjamin gathered to the temple from throughout the land to hear his words suggests that it was not the first time that they had done so. It has been suggested that a careful reading of these chapters evidences the existence of a system of religious festivals among the Nephite people comparable to those of the Old World. Perhaps this is the case. It would appear, however, that if such festivals were a significant part of the system of worship in the New World, such strained efforts would not be necessary to establish their existence.
