“They May Be Gathered Together”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

Three years prior to his death, Father Adam called the righteous residue of his posterity into grand council, where he bestowed upon them his last blessing (D&C 107:53). Before his death, Israel gathered his sons and their families together that he might tell them that which would befall them in the last days (Genesis 49); Joseph did likewise with his posterity (JST, Genesis 50:24-38), as did Moses with the nation of Israel (Deuteronomy 33). Benjamin, following the example of his prophetic predecessors, sought to announce Mosiah as his successor, to admonish his people, and to leave a final blessing with them.
