“Return Trips to the Land of Nephi”

Monte S. Nyman

Amaleki tells of two different attempts of a certain number, who went up into the wilderness to return to the land of Nephi, in much detail beginning in the ninth chapter of Mosiah. We will leave a discussion of these men for later.

Amaleki quits recording because the plates are full, but he has certainly added to our knowledge of the entire Book of Mormon. Without his contribution we would only have a very brief summation of the history and one principle: “Inasmuch as ye will not keep my commandments ye shall not prosper in the land” (v. 6).
