In this passage there have been two cases of loss in parallelism: the preposition in (in the 1888 RLDS edition) and the conjunction and (in the 1830 edition). The current LDS
and RLDS editions maintain in this verse the original sequence of five occurrences of and in. The text has several other examples of this repetition of and in, including the
following nearby instances in the last part of the small plates of Nephi:
- 2 Nephi 29:11
- for I command all men both in the east and in the west and in the north and in the south and in the islands of the sea
that they shall write the words which I speak unto them
