“The Record of Amaron”

Monte S. Nyman

Amaron kept the record for thirty-eight years, from the 283 (317 B.C.) through the 320 (279 B.C.) since Lehi left Jerusalem. He follows the theme of his grandfather, but in the negative aspect, bearing witness of the more wicked Nephites being destroyed. This verified the Lord’s word to his fathers: “Inasmuch as ye will not keep my commandments ye shall not prosper in the land” (v. 6). However, the righteous were spared and delivered “out of the hands of their enemies” (v. 7).
