The Book of Mormon beautifully and concisely explains the purpose and intent of the law of Moses. The Bible is less clear on this point. The law of Moses was not an end in itself. The whole purpose and meaning of the law was “persuading them to look forward unto the Messiah” (Jarom 1:11; see also 2 Nephi 25:24, 30; Jacob 4:5; Mosiah 3:15; 12–13; Alma 34:13; 3 Nephi 15:8).
