What does it mean not to profane or blaspheme?

Thomas R. Valletta

“Here we learn again that the Nephites were very diligent in keeping the law of Moses. They did not profane or blaspheme; that is, they did not speak or act in any way that would desecrate or make profane (worldly) anything that was holy, especially the name of God, the law, the temple, or its sacred space” (Welch, “Temple in the Book of Mormon,” 303).
