“By the Power of His Holy Arm”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
The Book of Mormon declares itself to have come forth by the “gift and power of God” (see title page). The phrase is most instructive-the book is a “gift” of God to all who desire to know him and the saving truths of his gospel. It is also a special treasure to those who are descendants of Lehi or of the family of Joseph. Further, it came forth as only such a book can-by the “power of God.” It was written by the power of God, preserved by the power of God, and brought forth by the power of God, and it is to be understood only by the power of God.
