Sherem was unworthy of a confirming sign, the kind of manifestation reserved for the faithful. Nevertheless, Jacob knew that Sherem knew that the doctrine of Christ was true and thus that his own preachments were false and destructive. This is frequently the case among anti-Christs (compare Alma 11:24; Alma 30:42).
