“They Are a Stiffnecked and a Gainsaying People”
To say that Israel is “a gainsaying people” is to say that they are quick to object, to oppose, resist, contradict, or speak against that which comes from God. They are slow to believe, quick to disbelieve. See also commentary on 1 Nephi 20:4-8.
