The coming forth of the Book of Mormon is a sign that God has commenced His work to gather His chosen people a second time (see 3 Nephi 21:1–7). Elder Russell M. Nelson testified: “This promise of the gathering, woven all through the fabric of the scriptures, will be fulfilled just as surely as were the prophecies of the scattering of Israel” (“Gathering of Scattered Israel,” 79).
