“We Will Trim Up the Branches”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
The trimming of the branches of the olive tree in the last days must surely refer to the cleansing and purifying of the Saints, of God, the preparation of the bride for the Bridegroom. Sanctification is a refining process, usually a lengthy transformation whereby a man or woman begins to shed carnal cares and worldly whims and put on the attributes and character of Christ their Lord. Paradoxically, it is only through the unconditional surrender of our hearts and minds to that which comes from above that we gain the absolute victory over the flesh (see D&C 64:34).
