“The Wild Branches Have Grown and Have Overrun the Roots Thereof”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

Gentile influence during the ages of apostasy- whether in the form of Greek philosophy or humanistic theology- had suppressed the truth and driven the Church of God into the wilderness. Worldliness had replaced godliness; philosophy had replaced true religion; rhetoric had replaced prophecy; and reason had supplanted revelation. Inappropriate actions will always follow on the heels of false beliefs; what we believe determines what we do.
