“Wild Olive Tree… Graft Them In”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
Those who are not naturally of the house of Israel-persons who are true Gentiles, who are not descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob-may, through the ordinances of the gospel and through entrance into the true Church, be adopted into the house of Israel. With such it becomes as though they had been born in the new and everlasting covenant. Nephi taught that “as many of the Gentiles as will repent are the covenant people of the Lord; and as many of the Jews as will not repent shall be cast off; for the Lord covenanteth with none save it be with them that repent and believe in his Son, who is the Holy One of Israel” (2 Nephi 30:2). One becomes a covenant person only through accepting and honoring the terms of the covenant, and thus through receiving and enjoying fellowship with the Mediator of the new covenant (see Teachings, pp. 14-15).
