“The Words of the Prophet Zenos”

Jana Reiss

Mormons believe that Zenos was an ancient prophet in Israel or Judah whose writings were ultimately not included in the canon of the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible, though they were preserved in the brass plates that Lehi and his family had brought with them from Jerusalem. Here, Jacob quotes Zenos’s extended allegory of the tame and wild olive trees—a reference to Israel and the Gentiles.
