“Fruits of Christ”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

Christ was the firstfruits of the resurrection, the “great and last sacrifice” (Alma 34:14), the one foreordained and set apart to be the firstfruits of them that slept, the first to be presented in resurrected glory in the heavenly temple. There were no resurrections on planet earth before his. It would appear that Jacob’s phrase “first-fruits of Christ” is a description of those souls who have been consecrated and dedicated to his service and who thereby qualify for the highest resurrection and a place in the celestial world.
