As a portion of the fruits- those showing the greatest promise- were ordained for divine purposes long before the time of harvest, so certain of the Lord’s children- “on account of their exceeding faith and good works” long before the time of their birth (Alma 13:3)- were in like manner foreordained to his service and promised the highest of eternal rewards. Christ, with the faithful, are thus the firstfruits unto God.
