“Despise Not the Revelations of God”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
Revelations is the offspring of heaven: it is to be welcomed, nurtured, and encouraged to grow. As it is a serious sin for those Latter-day Saints who have entered into the covenant of marriage to refuse to welcome children into their home, so it is a reprehensible crime to ignore or abuse those spirits entrusted to us. It is just so in regard to the revelations of God. Those who refuse to welcome revelation are under the bondage of sin (see D&C 35:12; D&C 84:49-50). And yet does not the greater sin- a condemnation and judgment- rest upon the hearts of those who have been entrusted with the treasures of heaven and then have ignored or even abused them? (see D&C 84:54-61). See commentary on 2 Nephi 28:29.
