“The Lord God Showeth Us Our Weakness”

Brant Gardner

Verse 7 is very important to understanding the character of Nephi and Jacob. These are men whom in the previous verse, were able to command nature by their faith. Nevertheless, while possessed of such tremendous potential power, they were yet humble men. Many men in various positions of power make the assumption that there is something intrinsic in their person that creates the position of power. Jacob and Nephi know that it comes through the grace of God and the mission of the Savior. Therefore they take no personal pride in their faith, but only see it as a means of service to God and their brethren.
