All of this hard work was done in a spirit of rejoicing because through these plates they hoped their brethren and their children might be thankful to possess them and learn with joy rather than sorrow and contempt something concerning their parents. Jacob, of course along with the other Nephite prophets, knew that when this record came forth, the remnants of Lehi's children would be in a low state of civilization, and might therefore tend to think of their ancestors with contempt.
