Text: Jacob has ended both his sermon and this section, as indicated by a chapter break in the 1830 edition. We cannot tell how much time, if any, passed between writing what we have as chapter 1 and chapters 2 and 3. I speculate, however, from the finality of this particular ending that Jacob expected some time to pass before he wrote again.
